Getting your Pokemon cards graded can be stressful, especially with all the grading scams, from companies running away with money to losing cards and even grading obviously altered cut cards
If you've never played the Pokmon TCG before or a lapsed player, then using a rental deck is a great way to learn how the game works
If you cast a spell for another cost "rather than paying its mana cost," you can't choose to cast it for any alternative costs
Additional Notes: BGS had a bit of turmoil in the past couple of years, with some collectors complaining about slower turnaround and less communication
